Hunt for suspect who mowed down elderly man in hit-and-run footage
An elderly man has been left for dead after he was run down in Adelaide as he was crossing the road.
Video of Sunday’s incident at Paradise, northeast of Adelaide, has been released as police hunt the driver responsible.
The elderly man did not see the car coming and was almost across Darley Road at the intersection of Lower North East Rd about 6.40am when the traffic lights turned green.
The driver of the white sedan flew through the intersection and slammed into him with the moment of impact too graphic to show.
The 85-year-old local resident lay on the ground as the driver took off.

Police have no doubt the person responsible knew exactly what happened.
“The front of the vehicle collided directly with the pedestrian and he was thrown out of the way of the vehicle,” Senior Sgt Stephen Murray said.
A passing motorist eventually came to the victim’s aid after several others passed by and failed to help him.
Police want to speak to any one who witnessed the crash.
After being treated at the scene by paramedics the victim was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital and remains in a serious condition with multiple fractures.
Traffic was diverted for hours as major crash investigators continued their inquiries.
Items of clothing were bagged and CCTV was reviewed.
