Hunt for mystery Powerball winner who scooped entire $30m jackpot

Lotto officials don't have the contact details of the winner, and are urging people to check their tickets.

One lucky winner has cleaned up in Thursday night's Powerball draw, taking out the entire $30 million jackpot — but they might not know it yet.

Lottery officials are searching for the ticket holder who had the only division-one winning entry, making them Australia’s second-biggest lottery winner of 2023 to date.

The winning entry was purchased online ahead of Powerball draw 1404. However, officials from The Lott don't have contact details and have been unable to inform them of their win. Lottery officials are urging all players to check their tickets as soon as possible with hopes the new-found multi-millionaire will turn up.

"Imagine going to bed tonight not knowing you’ve just won $30 million? That’s the reality for one New South Wales player after scoring division one in tonight’s Powerball draw!" The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said in a statement.

"While the New South Wales entry was purchased online, unfortunately, we don’t have their complete contact details, so we are unable to make a mind-blowing phone call to them this evening. That is why we are encouraging everyone in New South Wales who purchased an entry in tonight’s Powerball draw to check their entries."

Powerball draw 1404 winning numbers

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1404 on Thursday, April 13, were 27, 33, 19, 29, 5, 12 and 15. The all-important Powerball number was 4.

In addition to the division one winning entry, there were a total of 1,111,891 prizes worth more than $20.33 million picked up in divisions two through to nine. Among those winners were two division two winners who each took home a prize worth $281,829.15.
