'It's complete chaos': Photo exposes common parking gripe in Sydney suburbs
Frustrated residents in a Sydney suburb have exposed a long-running neighbourly problem, complaining that it results in damaged cars and large vehicles becoming stuck.
The issue was raised by a resident of Miranda, in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, whose patience ran out this week after an over sized truck bound for a nearby worksite became wedged between parked cars.
Vehicles parked on both sides of the already-narrow Mooki Street created an obstruction for the oversized truck trying to make its way to a worksite further down the road.
The woman on Wednesday took to social media to vent, and it was clear she wasn’t the only one sick of the ongoing annoyance.
“Our street is so narrow and completely parked out on both sides by those working in Miranda or going to Miranda [train] station,” she wrote to a community Facebook group.
Photos attached to the post showed the large truck “stuck hard between the cars and no relief in sight”.
The woman also mentioned the matter had previously been referred to the local council, but no changes had been made - instead, she claimed to be told the rows of cars had a “calming effect” on traffic.
Others agreed the problem had grown worse, with hundreds adding their own complaints in comments to the post.

“I drive down this street every Thursday on my way to Miranda Fair, I have to fold my mirrors in and roll through to ensure I don’t hit the cars. Something needs to be done,” one person added.
“Our street is so narrow and two-way. Cars fly down our street only to stop abruptly to an oncoming vehicle,” the original poster replied.
“Most people who park in our street park close to the gutter, but one in about 10 cars park out from the gutter and then its complete chaos in our street,” she added.
Some pointed the finger at the driver of the truck for attempting to squeeze down the narrow path to begin with.
“What the hell is a truck of that size let alone what it has on the back doing in a narrow street,” someone wrote.
Another person clarified the driver had no option but to take that specific route, given the job was in the street and there was no viable alternative.
Sutherland Shire Council confirmed to Yahoo News Australia parking on both sides of the street was permitted in residential areas in Miranda.
