Woman's horrific X-ray shows dangers of common car habit

An X-ray of a young woman's horrific injury was released by authorities to warn car passengers against putting their feet on the dashboard.

One of the woman's hips was crushed when she was involved in a crash while her feet were propped up on the dash. Her other hip was completely dislocated.

Sergeant Ian Price, from Wales in the UK, posted the X-ray on Twitter to warn other front-seat passengers not to relax with their feet up.

“Here is an X-ray of horrific injuries sustained to the front seat passenger who had their feet on the dashboard at the time of a collision,” he said, sharing the image initially posted by the Platinum Ambulance Service, which is based in West Sussex.

"If you see your passenger doing it stop driving and show them this."

Putting your feet on the dashboard is not illegal in the UK.

Commentators on Sgt Price's post said they would take note of his warning.

"I am 60 and have put feet on the dash many times in my life... I know I will be stopping it now and will be sharing this post around everyone I know," one person said.

Another man said: "A lifetime of pain for a moment of foolishness."

The warning comes after a woman lost part of her forehead in a car crash after a ride in her boyfriend’s car went wrong in the same circumstances.

Audra Tatum was also left with multiple broken bones after the car she was riding with her feet on the dashboard crashed.
