Heroes who took down alleged armed robber just want a cold beer in return
Two men say all they want is a cold beer in return for stopping an alleged armed robber at a Queensland pub.
Jayden Andress and Nathan Griffiths were at the Hervey Bay Boat Club on Tuesday night when it’s alleged a man pulled a knife on one of the staff members and demanded cash.
That’s when the pair leapt into action.
Mr Andress said he didn’t disarm the man but “helped get him to the ground” before Mr Griffiths helped out.
“He was on the floor by then, they needed one more guy, obviously I was the man,” Mr Griffiths said.
“(I) jumped over the bar, pinned him down, and we wouldn’t let him go until police came.”
The 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with one count of attempted armed robbery.
