Heavily armed police arrest commuter making threats on tram

A man has been detained in a dramatic arrest after he was accused of verbally threatening commuters on a Melbourne tram.

Images taken at the scene show heavily armed police officers detaining the man on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Collins Street around 12.30pm Friday.

A Victoria Police spokesperson told Yahoo7 News that no weapon was located at the scene.

The man was taken to hospital for medical assessment.

He had no physical injuries.
