Group's puzzling find after booking two different Airbnbs

A group of Boy Scouts were dismayed to find they were scammed after booking an Airbnb which does not exist.

Leader of the two groups of Boy Scouts, Scott Mulkey took to Twitter after he arrived at the address for the accomodation which was promised to be "big and spacious" to find there was nothing there.

A group of 24 troops had travelled from Georgia to the Florida Keys in Florida, 7News Miami reported and two Airbnb rentals were booked to house everyone.

Something seemed off before even arriving in Florida, as both rentals appeared to be the same house, despite having different hosts.

"One of them had seven beds, and the other had six, each of them easily could accommodate over 10 of our scouts within our various troops," Mr Mulkey explained on Twitter in a video.

"It wasn't till after we booked them, and we started comparing notes, we started noticing the pictures for the reservations were exactly identical."

He explained they reached out to the Airbnb hosts to see if there was an explanation, but the hosts did not respond.

When they received a reminder about their reservation, they realised the addresses for their seperate reservations were the same.

When they arrived at the location of the reservation there was nothing there — no brand new house as one of the hosts had promised, or a large and private home the other host had promised.

"How is this not fraud, there's no home here, there's no address here," he said in the video.

"There's absolutely nothing here. Exactly what is it that we're supposed to be renting?"

Airbnb responds after house does not exist

On Twitter, Airbnb replied to Mr Mulkey asking for more information regarding the listings and an in a statement to 7News Miami, an Airbnb spokesperson said the groups would receive a full refund.

“This type of situation is extremely rare, but when it happens, we take action to protect the integrity of our platform," the statement said according to 7News Miami.

"To that end, these listings have been removed, and all associated hosts have been suspended pending further investigation.”

The groups were able to find accomodation at a hotel.
