Gravesites vandalised at NSW cemetery in 'disgusting' act

Gravesites at a Lake Macquarie cemetery have been vandalised – an act that has sickened the NSW community who have labelled it “disgusting” and “disrespectful”.

A “large number” of ceramic angels and statues have been smashed at the Toronto Cemetery, with pot plants and statues also thrown on graves, police have said.

They are searching for four males seen causing damage at the Awaba Road cemetery and threatening a woman yesterday.

Just before 6pm, a group of four males were seen vandalising the graves before they approached and intimidated a woman who was walking in the area, police have been told.

Detectives investigating the incident are seeking assistance from the public.

The act has sickened many, who say they hope police find and punish those responsible.
