Grandfather who took up walking to stay fit killed in hit-and-run

A grandfather who took up walking to stay fit for his grandkids has been killed in a hit-and-run collision while on his morning stroll.

Michael D. Keaton, 61-years-old, was a retired Navy member who enjoyed feeding seagulls with his grandkids. He recently took up walking to stay healthy for his family and lost 45kg this way.

However, in a cruel twist of fate, Mr Keaton of South Kitsap, Washington, USA, was on his Saturday morning walk when he was killed in a hit-and-run collision.

On Saturday at about 7am, he was found deceased on the side of the road by local authorities. He had just celebrated his 41st wedding anniversary with his wife.

“He was well off of the roadway, walking against traffic and wearing a bright colored shirt and reflective vest. It was also daylight outside at this time of day,” said the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s office appealed to the public for information about a white 2016 Chevrolet Cruze seen in surveillance footage.

Due to public tip offs, they identified a 29-year-old woman who is wanted for questioning regarding this collision and other outstanding warrants.

The woman has an outstanding ‘no bail felony’ warrant out of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office for possession of methamphetamine and oxycontin with additional misdemeanour warrants for her arrest on her file, said the Sheriff’s Office.
