A six-year-old boy, two girls aged nine and 10, and a 40-year-old woman were travelling in a blue Toyota hatchback when it collided with a grey Toyota hatchback.

The grey hatchback had a 33-year-old woman, an eight-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl inside.

Damage caused by the crash pinned the legs of one child under the age of 10, a Queensland Ambulance spokesman said.

Those travelling in both vehicles were taken to Rockhampton Base Hospital following the crash.

The Forensic Crash Unit investigation is continuing.
