A friend has left a touching tribute for a “beautiful” woman who died unexpectedly onboard a Qantas flight.
Aleisha Tracy, 34, was making the 16-hour journey from Los Angeles back home to Melbourne on Qantas flight QF 95 when she passed away mid-flight.
Ms Tracy, an NBN employee from the Melbourne suburb of Sunshine West, died despite the best efforts of two medics on board the flight who tried in vain to save her life.
“Our cabin crew were assisted by two doctors onboard. We are very grateful for their assistance,” a Qantas spokesperson said.
Paramedics also tried to save Ms Tracy when the plane arrived at Tullamarine Airport about 9am on Sunday.
Friend David Loiterton took to Facebook hours after the news of her death filtered through to pay tribute to the woman.
“I’m devastated,” he began.
“I will miss you brightening up my day. I will miss your hilarious stories.”
Mr Loiterton continued to list a series of unique elements he will miss about their friendship, including her selfie techniques and TV shows they both loved.
“You were a one of a kind friend who was always there. I am truly blessed to have known you. Thank you for such a beautiful friend. I will miss you,” he said.
Ms Tracy took to Instagram to share a chilling image of her boarding pass at Melbourne airport prior to her departure for LA, using the hashtag ‘seeyanextweek’.
Her social media accounts indicate Ms Tracy was a frequent flyer with dozens of photos indicating a life of travelling to locations across the globe including Hong Kong and various US cities.
Ms Tracy’s employers NBN issued a statement to Yahoo News on Tuesday over her death.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Aleisha who was a valuable and well liked member of the NBN team,” a spokesperson said.
“She will be greatly missed. The thoughts of everyone at NBN are with her family, friends and work colleagues at this difficult time.”
Victoria Police are awaiting results from a post-mortem examination with the exact cause of death yet to be determined.
