Four people rescued after becoming trapped on ride at Movie World

Four people have been rescued after becoming trapped on a ride at Movie World on the Gold Coast.

The riders became stuck on the Scooby Doo Spookycoaster, leaving them suspected about 10 metres in the air, according to 9News.

The ride's safety system was engaged following a "minor guest behaviour incident", which caused the ride to stop in the high zone, a spokesperson for Village Roadshow told Yahoo News Australia.

"Due to the location of the stoppage, we engaged with Queensland Fire & Emergency Services (QFES) to conduct the unload process," the spokesperson said.

"The guests on board were completely safe throughout the process and our expert team were in constant communication with them. The four guests on-board were safely unloaded.

"The safety and wellbeing of our guests is our highest priority and our team conduct regular training with QFES on these scenarios and we would like to thank them for their assistance."

Yahoo News has contacted Queensland Fire and Emergency Services for more information.

The ride is scheduled to undergo maintenance from October 31 to December 9, according to the theme park’s website.

In April this year, a young boy was taken to hospital after falling from a “carousel ride”, reported to be the Looney Tunes Carousel at Movie World.

The boy was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition with “significant head lacerations,” a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said at the time.
