Former Queensland MP Scott Driscoll appears in court on fraud charges

Former Queensland MP Scott Driscoll has made his first appearance in court after being charged with multiple counts of fraud.

The 39-year-old former Liberal National Party MP is accused of 16 offences, including soliciting secret commissions, fraud and fraudulent falsification of records.

It is alleged that between August 2011 and May 2013 Driscoll committed fraud offences worth $725,000.

It is also claimed he solicited at least $400,000 in secret commissions from two entities, but never received the money.

Driscoll did not speak on the way into the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Magistrate John Costello adjourned the matter until November 24.

Mr Driscoll resigned from the Brisbane bayside seat of Redcliffe in November 2013, citing health issues.
