A spokeswoman for Mines Minister Anthony Lynham told Yahoo News Australia the incident occurred at Anglo American’s Grosvenor coal mine.

In a statement to the ABC, Anglo American said all of the injured worker’s families had been contacted and operations have been stopped with the mine evacuated.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman told reporters the five patients will be flown to Brisbane for further treatment.

Queensland’s Department of Mines and Natural Resources said in a statement it’s sending inspectors to the mine.

“The mine operator has advised the Inspectorate that all mine workers were evacuated and have been accounted for,” the department said.
