'Finally escaped': Teacher's chilling last text before being shot in street

An English teacher has allegedly been shot dead in the middle of a busy street with a shotgun by her ex-boyfriend, who then turned the gun on himself.

The 32-year-old woman had only been dating the suspect for a couple of months, and had sent a message to a friend just hours before she was killed reading: "I've finally escaped this nightmare. I'm free from the torment. I've left him."

Local news site Protothema reports that Dora was shot by KM as she was getting out of her car outside her house.

The police were called to the scene and found Dora dead on the roadside with two gunshot wounds.

The incident occurred in broad daylight in the middle of a busy street with dozens of eyewitnesses, who noted the number plate of the car in which the shooter drove off.

The police tracked the car to KM's home, where they found him dead, having reportedly committed suicide with the same gun that he used to kill Dora.

The cops found a note next to the suspect's body that read: "I can't go on living without my love."

According to local media, KM had spent hours stalking Dora and had waited patiently across the street from her house in a rented car with an unidentified accomplice in the passenger seat.

The investigation is ongoing and the authorities are now trying to track down the suspected accomplice who was seen sat next to KM.
