Farmer Wants A Wife fan favourites announce shock split: 'Disappointing ending'

"It’s a disappointing ending, but I’ve learned a lot about myself and my values."

Farmer Wants A Wife fan favourites Farmer Brenton Kuch and Sophie Holcombe have split up, with the social media manager announcing the split on Tuesday on her Instagram Stories.

"I have an update to share," Sophie began her short statement. "With a heavy heart, I want to let everyone know Brenton and I have gone our separate ways. Reg [Sophie's dog] and I loved our life in Darriman and have been missing the farm a lot."

She hinted that the split wasn't amicable, adding, "It’s a disappointing ending, but I’ve learned a lot about myself and my values.

"I wish Brenton all the best and want to thank everyone for their support, especially my family and friends."

Brenton, meanwhile, has not commented on the split at all, with his most recent post coming two days ago, when he shared snaps from his Farmer Wants A Wife journey.

"Still up there with some of the best times and best people," he wrote alongside several photos, including one with Sophie and other contestants.

Sophie's last post with Brenton was a shared post from the couple from June 23 where they encouraged others to sign up for the next season of the show.

After the finale in late May, she shared a lengthy post summing up her time on the show, also revealing she had already been living with Brenton for five months.

"I always loved watching @farmeraustralia but I never thought that one day I’d be on it," she wrote. "Meeting Brenton and going through this experience has been one of the best things I’ve done. It was a fun and emotional adventure, both at the time and then watching back on.

"I was lucky to be joined by some strong and beautiful women who put their heart on the line and supported me as I did the same. To hold respect for each other in such strange circumstances shows how special they all are!"
