Emma Stone's latest movie Kinds of Kindness has a connection to Poor Things.

The absurdist anthology marks the third collaboration between Stone and director Yorgos Lanthimos following The Favourite and Poor Things, with their latest venture telling three stories in its 165-minute duration.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Stone revealed that her eccentric dance scene in Kinds of Kindness (which is also briefly shown in the film’s trailer) was inspired by a dance she did on the set of Poor Things.

"During Poor Things – I mean, I do this most of the time – but the days get kind of long and you’re waiting for a while but you have to keep your energy up to do these things over and over," she explained.

"One day I was doing this dance on set and my friend Laura took a video of it. I sent it to Yorgos and was like, 'Here’s what we’re doing upstairs while we’re waiting for the set-up or whatever'.

"And then when he saw that he was like, 'You should do this in Kinds of Kindness, just something inspired by this'. So I got to kind of choreograph my own dance."

The video in question was then shown to the audience, featuring Stone as she busted some moves on the Poor Things set while dressed up in her Bella Baxter attire.

Kinds of Kindness is described as a "triptych fable", following "a man without choice" trying to take control of his life, a policeman whose missing wife returns a different person, and a woman attempting to track down someone who is "destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader".

Other cast members include Nosferatu's Willem Dafoe, Cuckoo's Hunter Schafer, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's Margaret Qualley, Joe Alwyn and Mamoudou Athie.

Kinds of Kindness is released in cinemas on June 28.
