Drone Photographer Captures Mesmerizing Close-Up of Icelandic Lava Flow

Lava spewed from a 2.4 km-long eruptive fissure near Grindavik, Iceland, on Wednesday, May 29, mesmerizing close-up footage from a local drone photographer shows.

The Icelandic Met Office said a volcanic eruption started at the Sundhnukur crater on Wednesday, and that by evening the fissure had grown to about 2.4 km long.

The Blue Lagoon, a popular Icelandic tourist spot, was temporarily evacuated on Wednesday.

The met office estimated that 14 million cubic meters of lava per second was flowing into the Sundhnukur crater row by Wednesday afternoon.
