Driver's poor excuse for speeding at over 120km/h

A Western Australian driver has offered up a poor excuse after being caught speeding in a 110km/h zone.

The driver was clocked travelling at 126km/h in Dalwallinu in WA’s Wheatbelt on Tuesday, police said.

When the driver was asked why they were speeding they offered an excuse.

They told police: “I thought I was doing 120. My cruise control was set on.”

The driver was fined $200.

Exceeding the speed limit by more than 9km/h but less than 19km/h is a two-demerit point penalty in WA.

On Facebook, people called the driver a “silly goose”.

“Should have thought carefully before setting the speed correctly that matches the speed limit or under speed limit,” one man wrote.

Another man suggested he should “go to Specsavers”.
