Dog chases owner after being dumped on street in 37C heat

A desperate search is underway for a small dog after a car was spotted dumping it on a rural road.

The small pup, believed to be a fox terrier, was seen being dropped from a car on Mickleham Road in Tullamarine, Victoria, on Sunday.

A witness was mowing her nature strip about 120 metres away at the time, recalling in a post to Facebook how the small animal chased the car down the road.

“The poor little one chased and kept up with car for a while on foot ... but I lost site of it after it approached the bend,” a post to the social media site read.

She managed to snap a photo before the car disappeared, but sadly its registration plate isn’t visible in the image.

“I’ve just spent the last hour in the car and on foot trying to find the poor little dog to no avail,” she said.

“If you have any knowledge what so ever about this incident, recognise this car or dog or have any information what so ever, please let us or the authorities know ASAP.”

Hundreds have shared the post, calling on the public’s help to locate the dog or the driver of the car.

One suggested the owners may have let the dog out for some exercise, however others dismissed the theory because it would have been cruel in the heat.

It was 37 degrees in the Tullamarine area today.
