Dishevelled man emerges from garbage truck after falling asleep inside bin

The remarkable moment a man emerged from inside a garbage truck after he was scooped up while taking a nap in a wheelie bin has been caught on video.

The UK man, known as Daniel, fell asleep in a rubbish bin on Friday night and was picked up with the following morning’s collection, ‘’Mail Online’’ reports.

Upon preparing to load another bin into the lorry in Workington, Cumbria, servicemen heard a banging sound coming from inside.

In the video, the workers guide the man to the back of the vehicle and shout “follow the light” and “come on out.”

Grinning from ear to ear, Daniel emerges from the back of the truck up and throws thumbs up to his rescue team before asking onlookers: “What you taking selfies for?”

Daniel was lucky to make it past the hydraulic plate, which is responsible for squashing rubbish into the back of the truck.

Former lorry driver Jordan Nicholson posted the video to Facebook.

“He fell asleep in a bin last night and got put in the back of the wagon this morning,” Mr Nicholson wrote.

“They we’re just about to put another bin on and they heard him banging. It’s unreal how lucky he’s been not to get chopped up.”

Simon Rodger, crew manager of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed that a man fell asleep in rubbish bin and was tipped into the "heart of the machine."

"We can only assume he was asleep at the very bottom because the workers had checked there was nobody in the bin because it was full of cardboard," Mr Rodger said.

"The operator had heard banging and realised somebody was in there, and therefore called us out."

Mr Rodger said the man walked out "completely unharmed."
