Police and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife had initially been called to investigate reports of one shot deer which was injured but able to feed and walk around, however they did not find anything.

Later on Friday the disturbing discovering was made.

Oregon State Police wrote on Facebook: “A trooper responded later that evening and found not one, but two deer that had arrows protruding from them. The injuries to the deer did not appear to be life threatening.

“Additional information was received that there might actually be a third deer with an arrow stuck in it.”

Oregon State Police Sgt. Kaito Raiser said on Sunday they have been unable to remove the arrows from the deer, as they’ve been unable to tranquilize the animals.

“You have to get very close to the deer, about 30 yards, for it to be effective, which is difficult for wild deer,” Sgt. Raiser said.

The animals are not being tracked, but authorities are still responding to sightings.

A reward is being offered by the Oregon Hunters Association for any information which leads to an arrest in the case.
