Man has meltdown in bagel shop over being rejected by women for his short-stature

A man has been filmed in a very bizarre and very public meltdown in a bagel shop — a tantrum which was reportedly sparked by him being told by a fellow customer to stop being rude to staff.

From there, the situation quickly spiralled out of control with the unidentified man launching a screaming rant about women — particularly those who kept rejecting his romantic advances because of his height.

The footage was posted to Twitter by 19-year-old Olivia Bradley, who said the “misogynistic douchebag” had been “degrading almost all of the female staff as well as other patrons”.

In the video, Ms Bradley can be heard asking the middle-aged man why he thinks it's OK to "degrade women".

He angrily snaps back: "Degrade — why is it OK for women to say, 'Oh you’re five feet on dating sites, you should be dead’,” before he throws his newspaper on the floor while shouting: “That's OK?”

Ms Bradley, who is unseen in the video as she films it, then asks him, "who said that to you here? Nobody."

The angry man replies: "Women in general have said it on dating sites. You think I'm making that s**t up?" he yells, throwing his arms in the air.

"Everywhere I go I get the same f***ing smirk with the biting lip."

Another voice, assumably belonging to another customer, can be heard telling the man to “calm down”.

He instead fronts up to the much-taller man, screaming up at him: "Shut your mouth. You're not God or my father or my boss."

The taller customer mutters something back in response, prompting the man to challenge him to a fight.

Another customer who interjects is also told to “shut up!”, and invited to “come on then! tackle me!”

This second male customer does just that, and Ms Bradley’s video ends with the angry man being tackled to the ground of the shop to the bemusement of customers and staff.

“Oh my God!” exclaims an exasperated-sounding young woman, “I just want a bagel!”

The strange incident, which reportedly unfolded at a Bagel Boss store in Bay Shore, New York, on Wednesday (local time) and posted to social media soon afterwards, quickly went viral.

The young woman who put the video on Twitter told BuzzFeed News she, her brother and her friends had been waiting in line to order food when they noticed the man acting strangely.

The group decided to start filming because they were worried he might become violent.

"It just got to the point where I realised that he wasn't going to stop and it didn't look like anybody else was going to do something about it," Ms Bradley told BuzzFeed.

She also added: "Definitely something else was happening in his life made him snap like this.”

Another video of the incident which was filmed by another witness that claimed to show “what happened next”, shows the man up off the floor and continuing to pace and scream inside the store.

Staff had tried to give the man his food order but he instead threw it on the ground.

The owner of the bagel chain where the bizarre incident took place said “everyone is ok,” and joked: “Anyone who comes into our locations and mentions this video can get a FREE MINI BAGEL!!!”
