CSI: Vegas has been cancelled following its third season.

The spin off from the crime drama premiered in 2021 and centred around a team of forensic investigators who preserve and serve justice in Sin City.

Despite achieving solid ratings, CBS has made the tough decision to cut the series from its schedule, in order to make room for new shows (via Deadline).

Marcia Gay Harden's comedy So Help Me Todd is another series that will face the chopping block, as part of the network's shake-up.

CSI: Vegas saw original cast members William Petersen and Jorja Fox reprise their roles as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle respectively. They were joined by new additions Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria and Ariana Guerra.

Petersen and Fox's returns didn't last long though, as the duo were written out between seasons one and two, with the show stating that they were journeying around the Arctic together in their retirement.

The show's viewership has steadily improved over its three seasons, the last of which is currently airing in the US. In its most recent linear Nielsen viewership, CSI Vegas ranked 21st with over six million viewers.

The show's cancellation comes after CBS recently renewed The Good Wife spin-off Elsbeth. The drama is midway through its first season, but has already been commissioned for a second season – which will air this autumn.

CBS is also preparing to welcome a fresh slate of dramas to its schedule, including a Matlock reboot starring Kathy Bates and a medical drama set in the world of Sherlock Holmes.

Watson will centre around Dr. John Watson (Morris Chestnut) a year after the death of his detective friend and partner.

The network has also lined up a new prequel show from NCIS star Mark Harmon, titled NCIS: Origins, which will follow the early life of his character Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

CSI: Vegas airs on CBS in the US. In the UK, the show airs on Alibi, and can be streamed on NOW or UKTV Play.
