Coles customer blasts supermarket over botched delivery: 'Chicken juice cocktail'

A disgruntled Coles customer has called out the grocery giant on Facebook after receiving a home grocery delivery in an unsatisfying state.

“I would like to thank the Coles Online delivery driver for the egg and chicken juice cocktail she delivered tonight,” the customer wrote.

“Too stubborn to use a sack truck and crates to transport my items from the truck to my door, she decided to cram a week's worth of shopping into four bags and then proceed to carry them to my door in one hand.”

The customer said that by placing all of the groceries together, many items ended up damaged, causing a significant mess.

“This crushed three cartons of eggs and ruptured two packets of chicken breasts and punctured three shopping bags. This occurred over three of the bags,” they said.

“This led to one hell of a mess on my floors and every item in those three bags was covered in either egg, chicken juice or both.

"This took over an hour to clean up. I had to throw out three cartons of eggs, two packs of chicken, all of my tomatoes and three garlic bulbs. Well done to this individual.”

Coles investigating incident

The customer provided his order number in the public post, which prompted a comment from a Coles representative.

“Thank you for your post, we’re very sorry that you have had this experience, please private message us as we would like to investigate this further for you,” the representative wrote.

A Coles spokesperson also told Yahoo News that they are in the process of following up the issue.

“We work hard to ensure all Coles Online home deliveries arrive safely, as ordered by customers,” the spokesperson said.

"We were disappointed to receive this feedback and have followed up with the customer and store to understand what happened in this instance.”

Yahoo News understands that Coles is in the process of working with customer to understand the extent of the issue, and rectify it appropriately.
