Cockatoo dies after stripped of its feathers during Cyclone Debbie's fury

A cockatoo that was photographed after it was stripped of its feathers during Cyclone Debbie's rampage has died.

A clear example that it’s not just humans who have felt the devastation of the Cyclone, the bird was rescued in the aftermath of the storm but was found lifeless in her box on Thursday morning.

Affectionately named Debbie, she has been buried in the same forest she was found in.

The pictures were taken by a Townsville Bulletin photographer in the storm’s aftermath and warmed hearts across the country.

Debbie was rescued by the photographer on Tuesday and wrapped in a towel after she was found in the middle of destroyed tree branches.
