Clues about what Australia will give Harry and Meghan for royal wedding gift
It may be tough buying a gift for the couple who appears to have everything, but Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says he has already picked a wedding present for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Mr Turnbull told Melbourne radio station 3AW there was a present, but would only reveal a small clue as to what it was.
“We do have a present. We can’t reveal it just yet,” he said.
“It is very Australian and appeals to their interests.”
Australia has bought gifts for the royals in the past, with former prime minister Julia Gillard donating $25,000 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service to celebrate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s nuptials in 2011.
According to News Corp, Australia gave Prince Charles and Diana a set of octagonal sterling silver platters in 1981 and Queen Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten were gifted with two silver salvers and comports in 1947.
