Children flee with attacker after man stabbed in the neck

A 37-year-old man is fighting for life, after he was knifed in the neck in a random attack in the Logan suburb of Woodridge late on Saturday night.

The attacker had an accomplice, and two young children under 10 in tow, who were forced to flee with him on foot, before police arrived.

Footage obtained by 7News shows the injured 37-year-old being helped by a friend, before stumbling and falling to the ground.

The victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Steve Logaivau, who lives nearby, claims he encountered the aggressive man who threatened him first.

“He came here and tried to stab us with a big knife,” Mr Logaivau told 7News.

“He said to me if you have any problem I’ll put a hole… a gun.. a hole right on your forehead.”

Mr Logaivau locked himself inside, but said five minutes later he heard somebody screaming on the corner.

“And that’s it I don’t want to go out because he already pointed a gun at me,” he told 7News.

The man had an accomplice and two kids in tow, who witnessed the entire thing.

“They were small,” Mr Logaivau recalled.

“I can hear just a girl, like screaming “leave him, leave him, leave him” just like that.”

It is believed the three men and two children fled through vacant land, which police cordoned off as an acre-large crime scene.

SES sifted through the thick scrub on Sunday morning, searching for evidence to catch the culprits before they strike again.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or dashcam in the area to come forward.
