Police ask residents to check yards for missing man with dementia

Members of the public in parts of Perth are being encouraged to check their yards, as the search continues for an elderly man believed to have dementia.

87-year-old Hillarys man Alexander Henderson was last seen leaving his home in the northern coastal suburb at 4.30pm on Thursday, August 16.

Authorities are now extending their search into the Craigie area, particularly around the Craigie Open Space – Whitfords Avenue/Craigie Drive and the Mitchell Freeway.

Police are asking people from the Craigie area to review any dashcam or CCTV they may have since last Thursday.

It is believed the 87-year-old might attempt to find shelter so residents are also being asked to search their yards.

Mr Henderson is described as being about 165 centimetres tall, fair-skinned with a slim build and white hair.

It is not known what he was last wearing, but is often seen dressed in light brown shorts, a blue polo shirt and a brown jumper.

He should also be wearing a necklace which contains details of his next of kin.

Anyone with information about Mr Henderson’s whereabouts is urged to call Police on 131 444.
