The cast of 'Camp Rock'

Anyone who knew all the words to “This Is Me,” “Can’t Back Down” and “Play My Music” were the cool kids — we don’t make the rules.

It’s been 15 years since Mitchie Torres and Shane Gray, played by Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas, sang their iconic duet “This Is Me” at the Final Jam in Disney's Camp Rock.

The TV movie chronicles Mitchie’s journey at the prestigious music camp, Camp Rock, where she aspires to become a successful singer and songwriter. With the support of her mother (a hired chef at the camp), friends and Shane, Mitchie overcomes stage fright, gaining newfound self confidence.

The film premiered in June 2008, and after the world fell in love with Connect 3 — the fictional band made up of the Jonas brothers in the film — Disney released Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam in September 2010. To this day, Camp Rock remains one of the network’s most popular original movies.

The cast members' careers have evolved a lot since the movies: Lovato recently released “REVAMPED,” her first remix album with re-recorded rock versions of her songs from previous albums, including hits from her Camp Rock days like “La La Land” and “Don’t Forget.” In 2013, the Jonas Brothers announced they were going on a hiatus and then in 2019, they reunited and have since released two albums. They are currently on tour playing five albums each night.

Here, 15 years after we said goodbye to Camp Rock, see the cast, then and now.

In the movie, Lovato’s character was struggling to figure out who she would be, but it’s safe to say that after her breakout role at age 15 in Camp Rock, things started to fall into place. Lovato continued her acting career, starring in Princess Protection Program (2009) alongside Selena Gomez, voicing Smurfette in Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017) and taking a lead role in Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020) with Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams.

She’s also been the subject of three autobiographical documentaries: Demi Lovato: Stay Strong, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated and Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil. The docs outline her struggles as a child actor growing up in New Mexico, her rise to pop stardom and her journey to recovery from substance abuse.

Currently, Lovato is living out Torres’ dreams as a successful artist. She has released several albums, including Confident, Dancing with the Devil ... the Art of Starting Over, HOLY FVCK, and more. She has also headlined seven concert tours, sold 24 million records and earned two Grammy nominations.

Similar to the characters they portrayed, Lovato and Joe Jonas dated in 2010. Although the pair split just two months after getting together, they have maintained a friendship throughout the years.

Lovato, 31, is currently in a relationship with Canadian musician Jutes and just earned buzz for her first MTV VMAs performance in six years.

Disney crafted Shane Gray’s character as a direct reflection of Joe in real life: a renowned teenage pop star.

Joe initially started gaining attention as one of the members of the Jonas Brothers alongside his brothers Nick and Kevin. The New Jersey-based band launched Joe and his brothers into the limelight, securing contracts with Columbia Records and Hollywood Records, creating six studio albums and embarking on 11 tours. In October 2011, Joe released his only solo album, Fastlife, a pop-rock album featuring collaborations with Chris Brown and Lil Wayne.

After the band confirmed their split in October 2013, Joe formed a funk-pop group called DNCE and introduced their debut EP, Swaay, featuring the smash hit single “Cake by the Ocean.” He continued his musical career by serving as a judge on season 7 of The Voice Australia and mentoring Team Adam Levine in 2017 and Team Nick Jonas in 2020 on the U.S. version.

Joe, 34, and his brothers starred in documentaries the Jonas Brothers: Chasing Happiness (2019) and Happiness Continues: A Jonas Brothers Concert Film (2020), which took fans through their rise from teen stardom, the band’s hiatus, the brothers’ feuds and reconciliations and their triumphant return to the stage as a band.

While Joe’s professional career was blossoming, his personal life was flourishing. The singer slid into Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner’s Instagram inbox and met for the first time in October 2016.  Sources confirmed to PEOPLE that they were officially dating in December of that year, and Joe proposed in October of the following year. The celebrity couple tied the knot in the summer of 2019 and welcomed their first child, Willa, on July 22, 2020. Two years later, the couple’s second daughter, Delphine, joined their family.

However, in September 2023, documents obtained by PEOPLE confirmed that Joe filed for divorce, and later that week, Joe and Turner confirmed their split in a joint Instagram post.

Following the release of the Camp Rock movies, the band’s youngest member went on tour with his band, Nick Jonas & the Administration, and released their debut album. Nick has since openly addressed that the Jonas Brothers split in 2013 was initiated by him.

"I was feeling kind of trapped," he said to PEOPLE. "I needed to share my heart with my brothers."

After the group split, Nick pursued his aspirations of becoming a solo artist. In 2014, he released a self-titled album with chart-topping songs like “Jealous” and “Chains.” He also joined Lovato’s Neon Lights Tour as the musical and creative director. A few years later, Nick released his third album, Last Year Was Complicated, with songs like “Close” and “Bacon” ft. Ty Dolla $ign.

While making strides in his solo career, Nick simultaneously ventured into acting. He played a lead role in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) alongside Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart. He also made cameos on Hawaii Five-O (2013-2015), starred in all three seasons of Kingdom (2014-2017) and was featured in five episodes of Scream Queens (2015).

Nick, 31, reached out to Priyanka Chopra on social media in 2016. The two publicly debuted as a duo at the 2017 Met Gala and got engaged the summer of 2018. The couple were married in two ceremonies that incorporated both their Hindu and Christian cultures. On Jan. 15, 2022, the pair welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie, via surrogate.

Kevin followed a different path after the band’s split and took a step away from the music industry. The eldest brother co-founded the social media marketing company The Blu Market and helped develop the restaurant database app Yood!. Additionally, he partnered with We Heart It, a video-sharing app.

During the band’s hiatus, Kevin shifted his focus toward starting a family with his wife, Danielle. The two met in the Bahamas during a Jonas family vacation; Danielle has since admitted to PEOPLE that, at the time, she "didn't know who the Jonas Brothers were." They got married in 2009 and welcomed their two daughters, Alena Rose and Valentina Angelina, in February 2014 and October 2016, respectively.

Kevin, 35, and Danielle shared insights into their love story in Married to Jonas (2012), a reality documentary series on E!, which ran for two seasons.

He has also made cameos on The Real Housewives of New Jersey (2014), The Apprentice (2015) and The Voice (2020).

Stoner was a standout character in the Camp Rock movies, but they established themself prior to the Disney Channel film. The Ohio native’s acting career skyrocketed after playing Sarah Baker in both Cheaper by the Dozen movies and Max on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005-2007). They have also voiced characters in Lilo and Stitch: The Series and Phineas and Ferb.

Their impressive dancing skills and stage presence have been evident since playing Camille in three Step Up movies and breaking it down in Missy Elliot’s “Work It” and “Gossip Folks” music videos.

In 2018, Stoner publicly came out as queer in a Teen Vogue article, in which they discussed how using they/them pronouns impacted their career. They said they consulted with their managers, one of whom was the Jonas Brothers’ dad, Kevin Jonas Sr.

“He's a former pastor and so I was like, 'Okay, I know that there's a potential risk here,' and he was very loving and supportive and helpful in me understanding that like, there are risks if I do this,” the actor said. “It's totally my choice, but it could affect not only people’s perceptions, but also like, hireability for jobs.”

Stoner, 30, has said that opening up about their sexuality has, in fact, impacted their hireability. “I did end up getting fired from a children’s show because they felt that I was unsafe, now that they knew I was queer, to be around kids. So there was definitely discrimination.”

Stoner has since launched a podcast called Dear Hollywood, where they discuss how their life and other child stars’ lives were impacted by early fame. Stoner also founded Movement Genius, a digital wellness platform company.

She also appeared on Melissa and Joey and Jessie.

While Peggy won the Final Jam and was destined to become a record-selling superstar, Richards prioritized starting a family off-screen. In fact, Renee Sandstrom was the voice behind Peggy’s famous hit “Here I Am,” not Richards.

The Canadian now promotes self-love and motherhood and shares business tips on social media.

Richards, 33, married Mike Caci in September 2018 and they welcomed their son Luke in September 2021.

Disney Channel fans may recognize Perez de Tagle not only from Camp Rock but also Hannah Montana (2006-2011). In the series, she portrayed Ashley Dewitt, a typical diva who hated Miley Stewart (played by Miley Cyrus) but ironically loved Hannah Montana.

The actress went on to guest star on Baby Daddy (2013) and Charmed (2018). In 2011, she starred in the Broadway revival of Godspell.

Perez de Tagle, 32, married Scott Kline Jr. in 2019; they welcomed daughter Amelia Grace in 2021.
