Bus driver shouts at paramedic after ambulance attending crash blocks road
A Perth bus driver has been filmed becoming irate at the scene of an accident after asking an ambulance to move off the road.
The bus driver, who was driving the 507 in Willetton, was filmed asking an ambulance to move before arguing with a tow truck driver on Saturday.
The ambulance was attending a car crash. CCTV showed the car smashing through a brick wall leaving the driver trapped inside.
Natasha Busono, who was a passenger on the 507, filmed the bus driver asking the ambulance to move. Passengers claim he was honking his horn and yelling.
The ambulance moved but the bus driver then gets into an argument with a tow truck driver who beckoned him from the side of the road.
He opens the passenger door and asks the tow truck driver – “you got a problem?”
“If you see an accident mate, you don’t tell us to move. We’re here for a reason,” the tow truck driver says says.
“You’re only a bus driver.”
The pair continue to bicker.
“Shut your face, right,” the bus driver responds.
“I’m not just a bus driver, a***hole.”
The tow driver tells him “we’re emergency services” and he’s “doing a job”. He asks him to move on.
“You’re not doing a job because you’re not authorised,” the bus driver says.
Ms Busono said the bus driver’s behaviour was “uncalled for”.
“Because who knows who would have been hurt,” she said.
“Maybe someone was dying. We don’t know that.”
Transperth spokesman David Hynes said while it was “disappointing” to see, the incident was “hardly newsworthy”.
“On the face of it, this is not the sort of behaviour we expect of our bus drivers,” he said.
