Bunnings footage of mystery man pulled dead from river released

The man had been found in the river wearing the same clothes as what he was wearing in the CCTV footage.

Police are pleading for information after an unidentified man was found dead in a Queensland river without matching any missing persons reports.

New CCTV footage was released by detectives on Sunday showing a male in what appears to be a Bunnings store in Maroochydore, Queensland, at around 5.45pm on November 27 — this is believed to be the same day he passed away.

In the video, he is wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and two cream-coloured knee compression sleeves which is also what he was wearing when his body was discovered on November 30 in the Maroochy River on the Sunshine Coast.

Queensland Police sent out their initial appeal for information on December 7 with a computer image of what the man looks like but have still been unable to identify who he is, and no one has come forward with information.

Although detectives have now deemed the death as "not suspicious", they released new CCTV footage showing the male walking through a Bunnings store saying that it is "the best indication of what the man looked like", hoping this new, clearer footage could help find someone who knew him.

Urge to report missing friends or family

Police have asked for people to report any friends or family members that they haven't seen in the past week who match this man's description. He is described as 189cm tall, heavy-set build with very short brown hair and detectives believe he likely entered the water between Chambers Island and west of the Talep Bridge (Maroochy River).

Anyone who recognises the man or has information to assist the identification process is urged to contact the Queensland Police on 131 444.
