Breast milk bank helping sick and premature babies

Hundreds of sick and premature babies are being given a healthier start to life thanks to generous donations of breast milk.

The Mercy Hospital for Women has declared its milk bank a huge success after just four years in operation.

Since its inception in 2011, 162 women have donated more than 1500 litres of breast milk, providing nourishment for 276 premature and sick babies.

It's not just donations of breast milk that help, the hospital is also aiming to raise $2 million to fund the project.
