Boy, 5, dies in front of family during boating tragedy
A little boy has drowned in a tragic boating accident in central Victoria.
The five-year-old boy had spent the day out on the water with his parents and siblings at Lake Eildon in Bonnie Doon.
It is believed he fell from the front of the boat on Sunday.
Despite wearing a life jacket, he became trapped under the hull and sustained a number of cuts and injuries after he collided with the boat’s propeller.
The boy’s father has managed to drag him to the back of the boat and he was able to perform CPR with the assistance of a triple-0 operator.
There were also a number of jet skiers and holidaymakers to help the family out.
The air ambulance was called but was turned around after the boy died at the public boat ramp.
Police say the family were regular holidaymakers at Bonnie Doon and were no doubt planning to return for the Christmas break.
A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
