Boy, 11, burned with scalding water in deadly challenge
WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT: A boy is recovering from serious burns after being scalded in a deadly challenge.
Patricia Oliver, from the US state of Kentucky, posted photos of her son Billy, 11, on Facebook with his neck and below covered in burns.
“This is a challenge,” she wrote.
“Talk to your children people please. I am living a nightmare and had no idea about this challenge.”
Billy’s mum claims her son stayed with a friend but the 11-year-old woke to having boiling water poured on him.
She said her son was burnt as part of the ‘hot water challenge’, which involves pouring boiling water on someone without their knowledge or consent.
Her post has been shared more than 1500 times.
According to WTVQ, Billy suffered second and third degree burns.
Police expect to charge whoever is responsible for burning him.
