Body of teen girl found dumped in bushland off Queensland street

A man has been charged with murder after the body of an 18-year-old girl was found in Queensland bushland overnight.

Police will allege the teen was killed just hours after meeting up with the accused in what turned out to be an ill-fated rendezvous.

The pair, who are known to each other, met on Saturday afternoon at a car park in Strathpine, north of Brisbane, police say.

When the young woman did not return home, her family raised concerns with authorities.

Officers then located the man, 19, at a petrol station around 8pm, Queensland Police said in a statement.

The woman's body was found at 3am this morning, uncovered in bushland off Park Road in Nambour.

Park Road resident Deborah Burgin told The Courier Mail she heard her dogs barking and looking towards the bushland at about 11pm but couldn't see anything herself.

The 19-year-old man has since been charged with murder and moving a corpse.

He is expected to appear before the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of the area on Saturday evening to come forward.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed a white 2016 Ford Mustang near Rob Ackers Sports Reserve at Bells Pocket Rd in Strathpine between 4pm and 6pm and at Park Rd, Nambour between 6pm and 8:30pm on Saturday.
