Body allegedly found in metal cabinet
A Brisbane man has been extradited to New South Wales after a missing man’s body was allegedly found stashed inside a “large metal cabinet”.
The 33-year-old man, Charles Dennis Le Marchant Turnbull, faced Brisbane Magistrates’ Court on Friday, where an application by NSW Police was granted to extradite him to face charges.
Later the same day, after crossing the NSW border, Mr Turnbull was charged at Tweed Heads police station with accessory after the fact to murder, stealing motor vehicle and improperly interfering with a corpse.
The charges relate to the alleged discovery of Darcy Schafer-Turner’s body in a metal cabinet on a property at Warrell Creek, south of Macksville, on May 12.
The 22-year-old was allegedly murdered by his friend Zachary Richard Fraser, also 22, at a home in Sydney’s south in late April, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Mr Fraser was arrested and charged in May and the matter remains before the courts.
Police will allege Mr Turnbull, who runs an aviation business from Brisbane airport, was hired as a “cleaner” following Mr Schafer-Turner’s alleged murder — according to The Courier Mail.
Mr Turnbull faced the Lismore Local Court on Saturday and will next appear at the Sydney Downing Centre local court on September 5.
