Bobbie beats the crims
Police dog Bobbie was kept busy early this morning after her handler came across suspicious activity in Perth's northern suburbs.
The Dog Squad was on patrol in Beldon when the handler noticed a suspicious car near a service station on Eddystone Avenue.
"The vehicle took off at speed and was later lost," a police spokesman said.
"About an hour later the same vehicle was spotted by the dog handler and officers from the Regional Operations Group."Police allege the car drove off again in attempt to evade police and was followed through several streets before officers lost sight of it.
"A search of the area was conducted and the vehicle was located abandoned by the Regional Operations Group officers outside a house on Prairie Dunes Place, Connolly," the spokesman said.
"The Dog Squad unit attended and police dog Bobbie was deployed.
"Bobbie tracked a scent to a house further down the road, where she located two people hiding in bushes at the side of the property."
A man and woman were taken into custody.
The 21-year-old man has been charged with two counts of failing to stop (to evade police), and two of reckless driving.
He is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrate's court on September 22.
The woman was released without charge.
