Big W recalls dangerous Christmas decoration over fire fears
Those making an early start to Christmas decorations need to return a particular Big W wreath candle holder amid fears the product could spark a fire.
The retailer has issued a product safety recall notice for its defective Christmas candle holders, available in two colours: pink and gold (Article number 689023), and green and silver (Article no. 689054).
Big W said the wreath surrounding the decoration could catch fire, risking “potential burns or fire causing property damage, serious injury or death”.
The retail giant confirmed it was not aware of any incidents having occurred with this product.
“BIG W takes product safety very seriously and wishes to advise customers of a product recall on the following product,” the company said in a statement.
The decorations had been available for sale in stores and online from 18 September to 7 November this year.
The recalled Christmas Wreath Candle Holder comes in two colours: Pink and Gold Article number 689023 and Green and Silver Article number 689054. The article number can be found at the back of the box.
Customers are being urged to stop using the product and to return it to any BIG W store for a full refund. No proof of purchase is required.
The alert comes six months after Big W was forced to recall a range of baby cots over safety concerns.
