Aussie mum dismissed $1m Lotto win as 'system error'

The lucky winner was in disbelief after learning of her mega win.

A $1 million win doesn't come around very often for most Aussies, so upon receiving a call to say you've won, it's only natural to doubt your luck.

One lucky mum was convinced a "system error" was the cause of her recent lottery scoop after learning she'd scored one of the two division one winning entries in Wednesday's Lotto, pocketing a whopping one million bucks.

The woman from Dee Why in Sydney's Northern beaches purchased an 18-game QuickPick entry into Wednesday's draw 4335. The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto were 27, 22, 10, 2, 32 and 20, while the supplementary numbers were 5 and 17, with the woman taking out the win.

'Some sort of prank'

"Oh my god!" the newfound millionaire exclaimed during a phone call with lottery officials, who informed her of her win.

"I woke up this morning and I noticed I had an email notifying me to check my Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket," she said. "I went straight on The Lott app to check my ticket and I immediately thought it was some sort of prank or glitch in the system – I’m glad to know it’s not".

How the lotto winner will spend her fortune

The lucky winner admitted she purchases tickets occasionally. "Maybe every couple of weeks because you never know what could happen!" she said, according to The Lott.

When asked what dreams she had for her million-dollar win, the New South Wales woman shared she already had some plans in place, including catching up on paying bills as the cost of living crisis continues.
