Aussie festivalgoer slams 'revolting' body shamers: 'Fatphobic'

The reveller was appalled by the degrading behaviour of fellow attendees.

A festivalgoer who travelled to Byron Bay to attend the annual Splendour in the Grass music festival has called out two "revolting" men for body-shaming her over her outfit choice.

"To those that say fatphobia isn't real: I've just had two revolting males dry reach at me for wearing what I am wearing tonight," Shelbi Evans shared on Facebook. "Instead of seeing my smile or hair or anything else, they noticed my weight and decided to turn my smile to a frown."

"I will not let these fatphobic f**ks dull my shine. Fat people exist! Get over it!" Ms Evans said in the post, accompanied by a selfie showing her smiling, bejewelled face and another photo showing her whole outfit, which consisted of a see-through orange and black crop top and copper-coloured trousers.

Ms Evans added that she had fought for years to find the confidence she has today, and declared that individuals such as the two men she called out only make her more confident. "I am not here to make anyone comfortable but myself. Next time you see a fat person, shut your mouth and keep any opinion you have to themselves," she slammed.

The heartfelt post, which was shared on the first day of the three-day festival, has been met with overwhelming support, as many praise Ms Evans for remaining positive despite the foul comments she'd received.

"You go girl, don't let any f**kwit get you down. You do what makes you feel good. They have the problem," someone commented, while others shared how her confidence was inspiring.

"Absolutely adore you, and your energy!" another admirer wrote.

"The people who matter don't mind and the people who mind don't matter. Flip your hurrrrr and walk on pretty lady," chimed a third, as others raved about how beautiful she looked.
