Are you a rower in Australia? The Worldwide Roar is coming!

For the first time, the Warwick Rowers project is opening its doors to rowers beyond Warwick. And to celebrate marriage equality and the 40th anniversary of Sydney Mardi Gras in 2018, we’re beginning our search in Australia!

For the last nine years, the Warwick Rowers project has featured the athletes from one university rowing club in England. It has been an extraordinary time for all of us, and we have achieved a lot. Most significantly, we have used the format of the naked calendar to ask questions about the kind of society that we want to live in.

It started a conversation that led to the establishment of a charity, Sport Allies. In only a few short years, Sport Allies has received acclaim at the highest levels for its work to make sport a leader in promoting diversity. And we believe this is only the beginning.

The voice of the Warwick Rowers is a powerful one. Men stand naked in front of the world to demonstrate their rejection of patriarchal privilege and their support for equality. Particularly now, when bigotry, misogyny and homophobia are on the rise in many parts of the world, it is a voice that must be heard.

If you are a rower in Australia, we invite you to make your voice heard. We invite you to join the Warwick Rowers, and become part of the Worldwide Roar!
