Ann Benton celebrated her 80th birthday at the weekend with a much-anticipated ride on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Mrs Benton last year decided that 2015 would be the year she finally rode a motorbike and described the experience as "absolutely magical".

"My son was driving but I was on the back," she said.

"We rode around Balingup for about half an hour.

"It was so amazing, I had tears of happiness."

The mother-of-five, grandmother to 12 and great-grandmother to 13 isn't one to shun adventure.

"I guess you could say I'm pretty game," she said.

"I definitely like trying new things."

Mrs Benton has always gone the extra mile.

She learned to swim in her 70s and, before migrating to Australia from England almost 50 years ago, had never driven a car.

"I started driving at 35 and learned to swim at 72," she said.

"It shows that it's never too late to learn something new."

Despite being willing to give anything a go, Mrs Benton's family sometimes deems it necessary to reel in her daredevil streak.

"I tried to bungee jump in New Zealand about 20 years ago but my cousin wouldn't let me," she said.

"I've had an amazing life thanks to my wonderful family. They made my 80th something to remember."
