'Not all calls are an adrenalin rush': Snake catcher's hilarious call-out

A snake catcher was called out to remove what he was told was a red-bellied black snake but he actually had nothing to worry about.

The snake catcher, from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7, was called by a man from Palmwoods on Saturday who believed a red-bellied black snake was terrorising his yard.

However, on closer inspection by the snake catcher, it turned out it was a fake rubber snake.

"Not all of our calls are the adrenalin rush you may think!" snake catcher Max Jackson posted on the Facebook page.

"Getting called to relocate this red-bellied black snake the other day turned out to be one of our easier jobs... mostly because it turned out to be a rubber snake."

Snake catcher, Mr Jackson, who wasn't the one to remove the 'snake' himself as his co-worker was sent out to the home, spoke to Yahoo7 and said from his understanding, the man's wife might have planted it in the garden in an attempt to deter birds.

"It was a genuine call out, the guy thought it was a real snake," Mr Jackson said.

"I believe she was the one that put it there."

Photos show the 'snake' lying on the driveway of the Sunshine Coast property. It's curled up with its mouth open.

Max said he personally receives three to four calls of this nature a year. The man still had to pay the $95 callout fee even though the snake was a fake snake.

People on Facebook shared their own stories while others shared their concerns.

"I see it when I'm cleaning houses. The owners deliberately put them out there to scare birds. I dunno if it works or not but it scares the housekeeper lol," one woman wrote.

"I have always been angry when I see parents buying these for their kids. I worry that the kid could accidentally pick up a live snake thinking it was their toy," another said.
