Little girl's touching note to teacher whose family member died

A little girl who lost her own father has shown incredible empathy after finding out her teacher's father-in-law had died.

Price Lawrence, a teacher at Highlands Elementary School in Huntsville, Alabama, shared a Facebook post on Tuesday showing a note with money he received from a student in the sixth grade.

In the post, Mr Lawrence said his students could tell he was "a little off". The children asked why and he told them his wife's father had passed away and he was worried about her.

They all expressed their condolences, but a little girl waited until the second period to share something with him.

Mr Lawrence wrote she walked up to him and placed about $1 in his hand.

"She told me 'This is for your wife. I know it was real expensive when my daddy died and I don't really want ice cream today anyways'," he wrote.

"I wish the world would pay more attention to children. We could learn a lot from them."

He shared a picture of the coins and a note, which reads, "Ms (Mr) Laerence (Lawrence). I'm sorry", along with a frowning face.

His post has been shared more than 200,000 times and has more than 450,000 likes with many praising the little girl for showing being "so sweet and thoughtful".
