Woman on verge of homelessness wins lifetime lottery jackpot
A US woman who was on the verge of being homeless has won the lottery.
Shawna Donnelly, 50, of Michigan, matched five white balls drawn on January 15 in Lucky For Life to win the prize of more than A$480,000, ABC 7 Detroit reports.
She bought her ticket from a 7-Eleven, and only checked it after waking in the middle of the night and feeling she should check her ticket.
“When I saw I matched five numbers, I must have refreshed my phone 100 times to make sure I really won!” she said.
“The last year has been the most difficult of my life. I’ve been taking care of my mum full-time, and it’s hard to make ends meet. Winning this prize couldn’t have come at a better time.”

Ms Donnelly went for the lump sum option instead of receiving part of the A$480,000 each year.
She plans on buying a new home and a car with the money before saving whatever is left over.
