Back to school chaos for thousands of Queensland families
There’s back to school chaos for thousands of Queensland families with news a major book and stationary company has run out of stock.
School supplies company EDSCO has failed to deliver stationary packs on schedule. It’s set back to school plans in disarray for many families.
Concerned mother Franki Simmons said she received an email from the school and EDSCO confirming that “they wouldn’t be here in time for school”.
Officeworks spokesman Matt Wilson said the issue is making a lot parents stress out.
“They've got today (Saturday) and tomorrow to go before the kids go back to school on Monday,” he said.
It’s a first for the supplier. In 2018, they began outsourcing packing to a third-party supplier in Sydney. They’ve apologised but it’s thrown parents into a last-minute rush to tick every item of the book list.

Some families are choosing to cancel their orders while others will wait it out.
But it could be weeks before supplies arrive.
Worried father Ian King said the added stress is “one additional thing that we could do without”.
