RSPCA investigates Perth dog groomer caught 'smacking' customer's poodle

WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT. The RSCPA is investigating after distressing video emerged of a dog groomer in Perth appearing to smack a poodle.

The Facebook video, which claims to be shot at Happy Dog Grooming in Perth, shows the woman with her back turned grooming the dog.

At one point, she appears to lose patience and strike the dog with an open palm.

"Stop it! S**** sake," the woman shouts at the dog.

RSPCA WA has confirmed it is investigating the video, which has more than 240,000 views and 6000 shares.

Dog Groomers Association of Western Australia has also been made aware of the video and in a Facebook post said it did not condone the use of “a physical aversive in relation to grooming and handling”.

“We promote the application of low stress handling and reinforcement based techniques to assist both the groomer and animal have a comfortable and positive experience,” the post reads.

The association noted that the grooming industry is still in the process of becoming regulated.

Happy Dog Grooming’s Facebook page has since been taken down.
