Melbourne nightclub owner found dead at his holiday home
A prominent Melbourne nightclub figure has been found dead at his country home in Victoria.
The body of Darren Thornburgh was discovered on a mattress at a home in Barmah, on the Victoria and New South Wales border, about 4.30pm on Monday.
Homicide squad detectives attended the scene and it is understood Thornburgh died of a single gunshot wound to the face.
Mr Thornburgh is the owner of the Glitzy Boutique nightclub in Melbourne's east and has a history of mixing with celebrities, having been pictured with the Hilton sisters and Molly Meldrum.
Last year his club had shots fired into it and then days after a luxury home in Port Melbourne was the target of a drive-by shooting.
His ex-wife was living at the home at the time but was not hurt in the incident.
It is also understood Mr Thornburgh was being pursued by debt collectors.
