Chilling footage shows van driver 'trying to lure kids with doughnuts'

Chilling CCTV footage has shown the moment a passing van driver allegedly made attempts to lure three children from their home's garden.

Alarmed mother Rechelle Haigh, from Manchester, UK, shared the surveillance footage to Facebook in a bid to warn her neighbours.

The clip shows her children Sadè, eight, Ameya, two, and step-daughter Roxie, six, playing on a trampoline together.

Moments later, a white van pulls up outside the home and the driver begins talking to the children.

Ms Haigh says the man then offered her children doughnuts, which prompted her eldest daughter to run inside in fear.

Her two-year-old was left alone briefly on top of the trampoline before Sadè ran back out and grabbed her sister.

The driver can be seen waiting outside the house until the clip ends.

"I was sat on my couch and I could hear someone shouting 'come on, quick girls, come get some doughnuts", Ms Haigh told The Sun Online.

"My daughter ran in saying 'mum, mum, come quick' - I thought it's probably the neighbours being nice."

But after her children raised the alarm over the lingering stranger, she went outside to face him.

"When I approached the man he looked petrified. I asked him what he wanted and he said 'oh, oh, oh, I was just offering the girls some doughnuts.'"

In her Facebook post, she praised the quick thinking of her daughter before reminding friends to keep their children safe.

She reported the incident to Greater Manchester Police who have said they are investigating the incident.
